Change COOPERATION to REVERENCE text

The United States of America is unique among the nations of the world in many respects. This country has been ‘the melting pot’ of the world, with ethnic groups from all places on earth. Nowhere else has humankind been able to come together in unity the way we have been in America. Yet for decades upon decades division has been sown throughout this nation—the country whose very founding was predicated upon unity! To reclaim that essential unity of America we must answer the question: “Where does our unity come from?”

In our founding document written in 1776, the Declaration of Independence, states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Thus, our unity comes 1.) from the belief that all men are created equal and 2.) that the rights of human beings are not derived from human governments, but from a divine source—their Creator. These truths are self-evident and revealed in Holy Scripture.

It is written in the Bible that God “made from one blood every nation of men to live on the entire face of the earth…that they should seek the Lord so perhaps they might reach for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:26-27, Modern English Version).

This reverence for the Creator and respect for all people are the founding virtues of America, and they are without question the wellspring of our unity. We have not always stayed true to these self-evident ‘truths’ as the Declaration of Independence clearly expresses. In the days of slavery, we failed to treat all men equal. In modern times, we have believed that reverence for the Creator is antiquated and repressive. But these are not optional virtues. For it is in faithfully upholding these virtues that the rights of life, liberty, and happiness for all people are protected. Failure to do so causes the erosion of the rights of all, for when the anchor of our rights—our Creator—is removed we are wholly dependent on the whims of our leaders, which gradually wax tyrannical the further they remove themselves from the virtues of God.

The first governor of Plymouth Plantation, William Bradford, articulated well the founding truths before they were ever written a century later, “Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing and gives being to all things that are; and as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation; let the glorious name of Jehovah have all praise.” These words were not isolated to a particular group either, for George Washington—the first President of the United States—left us with these words: “You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are.”

Some may question whether the United States of America has a Christian heritage, with former President Barack Obama even saying in 2010 that, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation.” However, the history of the United States is not so murky as some presume. It was not long ago that a Democrat, President John F. Kennedy, said in 1961 that “the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.”

Nevertheless, currently we live in a historical moment when we are faced with the outworking of leftist, socialist ideology in our own nation, when people protest not for unity but for division—supporting theft and lies. We are equally faced with the violent and repressive religious (or even atheist) regimes of other nations, such as Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, and even Communist China. Thus, we see the true worth of the foundation that has been bequeathed to us as citizens of the United States of America. The reason the United States has been able to welcome people from all ethnic and religious backgrounds is not because we as a people have no religion at all. It is not due to the “virtue of secularism,” rather it is because of the very Christian foundation that we do indeed have as a nation. The closer we have come to know and love our Creator in truth, the closer we have been able to love our neighbor as Jesus taught us to do.

This 4th of July will be our 250th anniversary as a nation. President Donald Trump, as flawed a man as he is, chose to rededicate America as “one nation under God” on May 17, 2026. This was a good decision. To my readers, may I encourage you to take this as an opportunity to remember that the way forward in unity on any level is found in reverence for God and in respect for all people.

As the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, has said, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:44-45 KJV). If we can remember that we are “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” as the Pledge of Allegiance states and in our national motto “In God we Trust” we will recover national unity. These words are not an attempt to make America seem a Christian nation when she is not. They are vital acknowledgments of who we were and are as a people. They are bricks of reverence and respect which are continuing to be placed on the foundation on which our nation has already been built. This is the true America. Those who place bricks of deception, deceit, and division on America’s foundation do not seek her peace or honor her heritage, instead they desire a different nation and they do not mind destroying this nation to get it.

America was designed to be a refuge and a safe haven for all who would seek freedom specifically from oppressive government and abuses of religion, not that America was formed to be a nation without government and religion—that would be atheistic anarchy. America was built to withstand a wide range of human ethnicities and cultures and bring them into unity. It is a testament to the tolerance—derived from the Christian virtues of patience, longsuffering, and forbearance—of this nation that we do not sanction discrimination against or persecution of any person be they a citizen or not, regardless of their beliefs or speech. That is a right that many countries do not have. In particular, China and North Korea (which are atheistic, communist countries) and the vast majority of the Muslim nations do not have freedom of religion or freedom of speech. Discrimination is severe and debilitating. Persecution is often violent and dehumanizing, creating a climate of fear, paranoia, and isolation.

This is why it is not unreasonable to say that there are ideologies incompatible with America.

Atheism is allowed to be believed, but it is incompatible. Why? Because in America we derive our respect for other people and our very rights themselves from our Creator, yet if you do not believe in a Creator then you must find some other source for your rights and respect for others.

Marxism (or Socialism/Communism) are allowed to be held to, but these political perspectives are incompatible with America. Why? Communism is rooted in rebellion, not liberty. It pursues liberation and unity without God, which is why it has degenerated into authoritarianism, distrust, and the loss of human dignity. Besides the fact that these ideologies have led to the most horrifically oppressive regimes everywhere they have been implemented, the man who designed them was not just an atheist, he hated God. Here are is a quote by Karl Marx that you may have never heard: “The idea of God is the keynote of a perverted civilization. It must be destroyed.” Marx was not just an atheist, he had a well documented obsession with Satan, and the fruit of this obsession is socialism/communism. Socialism is not about taking care of people; communism is not the community coming together for good. Socialism is godless love of self. As quoted in the book Marx and Satan by Richard Wurmbrand, Marx said, “Seeing that for the Socialist man all of so-called world history is nothing other than the creation of man through human work, than the development of nature for man, he has the incontestable proof of his being born from himself…. The criticism of religion ends with the teaching that man is the supreme being for man.” Hence, there is a very good reason that the United States of America has opposed socialism and communism. It is because these are godless political ideologies incompatible with America’s foundation of faith in God and showing respect and honor for all people.

America allows people of all faith backgrounds to live free and practice their faith in this nation. This is because we have freedom of religion. This does not mean all religions are true, only that we are given freedom to worship or not worship as we so choose. I want to say something that is often overlooked: this could only happen because America is a Christian nation! Not a religious nation, a reverent nation. Psalm 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Jesus said in Matthew 5:45 “He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Religious liberty is a direct result of America’s Christian heritage. This is not the case in communist nations; it is not the case in Islamic majority nations.

Last but certainly not least is Islamist religious/political ideology. Islam is the religion; Islamist is the political belief that Islam should dominate the entire world. While America allows people with this belief to live freely in this nation, this belief is absolutely and without question incompatible with America. Why? America is a nation of freedom not coercion. If Islam dominated America, then there would be no freedom of religion and no free speech. They would govern not by our laws, but by Islamic sharia law.

Finally, I will say something controversial but true. The reason there is a difference between Islam and Christianity is because they worship completely different deities. Allah is not Jehovah by another name. Allah has a different character than Jehovah. Allah is a deity of submission and power. Jehovah is the GOD of love and truth.

Muhammad is said to have received the revelations of the Quran from the angel Gabriel. Is that true? Was it actually Gabriel who spoke to Muhammad?

In Surah 4:171 Muhammad states that Jesus was a man created by Allah and not the Son of God. This is a complete denial of what Gabriel is recorded as saying in the Gospel of Luke 1:35 “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

Additionally, Surah 4:157, when speaking about Jesus, says that “they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so…They certainly did not kill him.”

Muhammad has said two things now, as revealed to him by the alleged angel Gabriel:
1.) Jesus is created and not the Son of God
2.) Jesus was never crucified—never died on the cross

The first is a refutation of Gabriel’s own words as recorded in New Testament Scripture.
The second is a refutation of history. Roman and Jewish records state explicitly that Jesus was crucified on a cross.

So, Jesus’ identity is altered and His purpose for coming to earth is totally obscured by Islam. Therefore, Islam is a false religion and an oppressive political force on earth.

“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” ~ Galatians 1:6-8

If Muhammad spoke the truth, follow him. But if he spoke lies, why do we honor Islam?

The truth is that Islam is a great deception designed to prevent people from seeing who Jesus Christ actually is and why He came. JESUS is the Son of the Living God. He came to earth not just to live a righteous life and teach us the way of God more perfectly. Jesus came to die on the cross for the sins of humanity. He is the Savior of the world. Sin has separated us from our Creator; death and damnation the penalty. But Jesus took that penalty Himself, and He gave us His righteousness by His Blood.

Without the cross there is no salvation, no hope. Muslims live without the knowledge and understanding and faith that Jesus came to save them and to give them freely a place in Heaven not because of their own works but because of His work on the cross for them.

Islam has no good news, this is why violence and persecution fill the Islamic nations.

America was the first nation birthed as a Christian nation. America is also a signpost of the promise of God that one day all who have come to God through Jesus Christ for salvation will be a united “multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10).

America is a noble experiment, one that has been favored and blessed by God abundantly. She is also full of wickedness and abominations. There is beauty and there is vileness. But one day, America will be no more. She has an expiration date. One day Jesus will return and He will reorder the nations in righteousness.

For as the prophet Daniel has said, “the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven,
Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And all dominions shall serve and obey Him” (Daniel 7:27).

As great as it is the be a citizen of the United States of America, it is as nothing compared to being a child of God and citizen of Heaven. This earth is temporary, but God’s Kingdom is eternal and everlasting.

To all who come to Jesus Christ, this is His promise: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).

To all who read this: “Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love” (2 John 1:3).
